Dwight Main Street Mission Statement It is the Mission of The Dwight Main Street Program to enhance Dwight and it's Downtown area by fostering a community wide volunteer effort to strengthen it's community identity, preserve it's unique heritage and rekindle the economic vitality of Downtown Dwight. |
When downtown prospers the entire community benefits.
A Healthy Downtown means increased traffic and business for the entire community not just downtown. It also means increased tourism and more revenue in the form of taxes which means more services from the city and helps maintain Dwight's outstanding schools.
Signs placed along Interstate 55 were a joint effort of Dwight Main Street and the Illinois Basset Waddle. The Basset Waddle proceeds the Harvest Days Parade each September.
Lt. Governor Pat Quinn visited Dwight Sept. 24, 2004 as part of the Rt 66 Mother Road Festival. Cars travelled the historic road from Chicago to Springfield.
